13th Annual Spirit of a Hero Ride - SAVE THE DATE

That's right, the day has arrived. It's time for the 13th Annual Spirit of a Hero Ride. 

Let us introduce you to our first, "First Responder" recipient, Andy Allison. Andy was a Lewisville Firefighter who was electrocuted fighting a house fire on August 6, 2012. He lost everything but his life and his family. His identity. His legacy. His mobility. His peace. His future. Everything changed when “it” happened. Now if he makes a dollar, it’s deducted from his workers compensation. He literally cannot work — for the rest of his life —He would have to walk into a job that pays him more than the workers compensation for that to make sense. We are talking about a 6’ 8” husband and father of three that is in pain all the time and isn’t even allowed to work without being penalized. He can’t go in the front yard and throw the ball to his sons because of the fear of a worker’s compensation investigation deeming him “not disabled” because they saw him doing a physical activity. He said, if I throw the ball to my son, I’m gonna pay for it in pain for the rest of the day or they can take away my paycheck. Either way, I’m going to pay for it. 

This is why Spirit of a Hero exists — to help heroes like Andy that give up so much and continue to be utterly screwed by their circumstances. We can and we WILL take care of Andy and his family.
